Support Worker - Auckland (Forensic Rehabilitation)

Position Overview

Join IDEA Services as a Support Worker in Auckland, focused on forensic rehabilitation. This role involves working with individuals who have high and complex needs and have had interactions with the justice system. The goal is to assist these individuals in their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into the community through skill development, new experiences, and support from their families and communities.

Work Details

• Location: Albany, Auckland
• Job Type: Both full-time and part-time roles available
• Shift Requirements: Must be available for rostered shifts including day, evening, and sleepover shifts
• Pay Scale: Ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 per hour, dependent on qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to individuals to engage in activities important to them such as swimming, fishing, sports, and spending time with family
• Monitor behavior and ensure safety at all times
• Manage challenging behaviors using appropriate de-escalation techniques
• Offer continuous encouragement and be a positive role model during their rehabilitation journey

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience with people who have complex needs is preferred
• Comfortable handling difficult behaviors with de-escalation skills
• Ability to create strong, supportive relationships and guide individuals through change
• Resilience and a strong commitment to safety
• Open-mindedness and a non-judgmental attitude towards diverse populations
• Proficiency with computers and tablets
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Physical fitness to assist with activities
• Full New Zealand driver’s license or willingness to obtain one within six months
