Role Overview
The Strategic Account Specialist (SAS) will drive significant impact by engaging key gastroenterology customers in line with corporate and regional goals. This role involves surpassing sales targets, ensuring compliance, and amplifying the effectiveness of the broader sales team through collaboration with Territory Sales Representatives.
As a subject matter expert in product knowledge and GI disease states, the SAS will engage clinically with healthcare providers, lead training and onboarding efforts, and contribute strategically to regional business planning. The position demands extensive travel and cross-territory coordination under the guidance of the Regional Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed regional sales goals by targeting high-value gastroenterology accounts in partnership with sales representatives.
- Maintain comprehensive expertise in product and disease information to conduct in-depth clinical discussions and address provider inquiries effectively.
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and access challenges to inform strategic approaches for increasing product adoption.
- Collaborate collaboratively in an overlay sales model with multiple sales representatives to maximize customer engagement and prescribing penetration.
- Lead regional training initiatives including new hire onboarding, skill-building workshops, and capability sessions at company events.
- Support strategic business planning, aligning overlay efforts with broader regional objectives.
- Partner across departments such as Marketing, Training, and Sales Operations to optimize operational performance and share best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies through diligent administrative and expense management.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least five years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience; internal candidates with strong performance records may be considered with fewer years.
- Proven consistent achievement of sales targets with recognition such as awards or top rankings.
- Experience launching new products and securing adoption in competitive markets.
- Strong business insight with the ability to analyze market forces and identify growth opportunities.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, and office teams, in-person and virtually.
- Proficiency with digital tools including Microsoft Office, Veeva Engage, Teams, and Zoom.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively including overnight stays and national meetings, with valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Success working within an overlay sales structure with strong collaborative skills.
- Experience as a mentor, trainer, or workshop facilitator with excellent presentation abilities.
- Previous exposure to gastroenterology or specialty therapeutic areas.

Compensation
The annual base salary for this position ranges between $125,000 and $155,000.
