Staff Nurse - Orthopaedics (Newly Qualified Candidates Welcome)

Overview

Treetops is a specialised 22-bed inpatient ward focused mainly on elective orthopaedics, along with additional services in urology, breast care, and plastics. The unit comprises 14 individual rooms and 2 shared bays, operating seven days a week with procedures scheduled from Monday through Saturday.

The team at Treetops is devoted to delivering care that is evidence-driven, patient-centred, and of the highest quality, prioritizing excellent outcomes and patient experience. The work environment promotes professional growth, clinical excellence, and supports collaboration.

Two positions are open under 12-month fixed-term contracts or secondments for internal candidates with managerial approval.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, functioning effectively as part of the team under the Nursing In Charge’s direction.
• Organize and coordinate nursing services in the absence of senior personnel on a regular basis.
• Maintain accountability in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct.
• Ensure nursing care standards remain high and clinical quality is upheld.
• Exemplify compassionate and inclusive leadership, fostering a collective leadership culture within the trust through engagement, enables others, coaching for learning ownership, and encouraging team collaboration across departments.
• Lead by example as a clinical expert, reinforcing professional values and overseeing the nursing unit.
• Plan, execute, and assess nursing care to ensure delivery of the highest standards.
• Collaborate with clinical nurse specialists and multidisciplinary teams to develop specialised nursing care programs supporting diverse patients and carers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration (mandatory).
• Some experience post-registration within an inpatient setting (essential).
• Knowledge or experience in coaching, mentoring, and quality improvement tools (desirable).
• A degree in nursing or relevant field, ongoing academic studies, or post-registration specialty qualification (advantageous).
