Staff Nurse - Adult Residential Services

About the Role

We are looking to expand our team with dedicated and passionate Staff Nurses (Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability - RNID) to work full-time within the Adult Residential Services located in Longford and Westmeath. This is a permanent position offering a meaningful opportunity to enhance your clinical expertise while making a positive impact on the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.

Care documentation is managed electronically, so proficiency with technology is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care tailored to adults with intellectual disabilities/autism within residential settings.
• Work closely with other professionals to ensure person-centered plans and community integration are prioritized.
• Contribute to positive risk management strategies and uphold the values of inclusion and autonomy.
• Manage detailed electronic care documentation and computerized report writing.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, support, and supervision to colleagues as needed.
• Operate independently in residents’ homes and be flexible in moving across various home locations depending on service priorities.
• Participate in a roster that includes day, weekend, waking night shifts, as well as potential sleep-over or overnight duties.

Requirements

• Current registration or pending registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as an RNID.
• Demonstrated interest and preferably experience in the disability sector including behavior management, safeguarding, and disability care.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and IT skills.
• Knowledge of HIQA standards and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
• A full, valid manual driving licence recognized in Ireland.
• Empathy, approachability, respectfulness, and a positive attitude are essential personal qualities.
• Ability to work autonomously with vulnerable adults.
• Willingness to be roster flexible, including working outside normal hours and adapting to service needs.
