Spotter

Role Overview

The Spotter plays a critical role in guiding vehicle drivers safely and effectively within landfill, transfer station, or recycling centers. Their primary duty is to ensure vehicles reach their designated locations based on the site's fill plan, while strictly enforcing safety guidelines. The position includes inspecting incoming materials to identify and remove prohibited waste before disposal and may involve general labor tasks such as site maintenance and cleanup.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company-mandated safety procedures, including safe vehicle approach tactics, making eye contact with drivers to confirm directions, and constant use of personal protective equipment.
• Ensure both publicly posted and unposted safety regulations are consistently followed.
• Guide vehicles to their allotted areas per site fill plans, managing traffic effectively even in adverse weather.
• Examine all incoming waste for unacceptable or improperly separated materials like tires and batteries, removing such items as needed before disposal.
• Coordinate with equipment operators to handle special or sensitive waste loads properly.
• Execute daily closing duties as instructed by company protocols.
• Carry out general laborer tasks including site cleaning, yard work, and building upkeep when required.
• Perform additional duties assigned to support site operations.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience working in environments involving heavy machinery.
• Dependability in following work schedules and persistence in overcoming challenges.
• Commitment to company policies and safety standards, demonstrating honesty and trustworthiness.
• A strong sense of pride in work and a goal-oriented mindset.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Compensation

The wage for this position ranges from $16 to $18 per hour.
