Overview
Concorde Education is seeking skilled and enthusiastic Sports & Fitness Instructors to deliver after-school enrichment programs at partner schools and community sites in Los Angeles, CA. These contract roles involve leading physical fitness and sports activities designed to foster students' healthy development, teamwork, and confidence over 8–10 week assignments.
Assignment Details
- Work location varies by assignment and includes on-site partner schools or community centers.
- Instruction occurs primarily after school for 1 to 4 hours weekly.
- Program sessions run approximately 8 to 10 weeks per placement.
- Opportunities begin on a rolling basis dependent on partner school schedules.
- Compensation starts at $50 or more per instructional hour, adjusted based on factors such as assignment complexity, instructor qualifications, experience, and location.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging physical education and sports instruction tailored to children's ages and skill levels.
- Prepare lesson plans using approved curricula or develop suitable activities aligned with program goals.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
- Adapt activities to accommodate varying abilities and encourage active participation.
- Ensure safety and appropriate supervision during all sessions.
- Maintain professional communication with school liaisons and Concorde Education staff regarding attendance, scheduling, and program requirements.
- Respect school policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Be punctual and ready for all scheduled sessions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 60 college credits completed or equivalent professional experience where allowed by the assignment.
- Previous experience teaching, coaching, instructing, or leading youth in sports, fitness, or physical education programs.
- Background working with children or adolescents in schools, camps, recreation, or community programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and class management capabilities.
- Reliable, organized, and professional work ethic.
Preferred Backgrounds
- Certified educators, physical education teachers, coaches, personal trainers, or fitness professionals.
- Leaders in recreation or camp counseling.
- Students or graduates in kinesiology, exercise science, sports management, education, or health sciences.
- Former athletes experienced in youth instruction.
Materials and Compensation
Lesson plans and instructional resources vary by program assignment, with some providing established curricula and others allowing instructor flexibility to meet age-appropriate goals. Compensation specifics are discussed individually before accepting assignments and vary based on assignment scope, location, and instructor credentials.
