Role Overview

The Department of Families, Fairness & Housing in Victoria is seeking two Solicitors to join the Care Leaver Claims team. These roles involve delivering timely, clear, and practical legal advice and representation with a focus on civil proceedings related to historical institutional abuse and personal injury cases. Candidates will work under managerial supervision, focusing on outcomes that benefit key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide precise, well-founded legal advice, comprehensive briefings, and professional correspondence.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to offer client-centric legal services.
• Support litigation processes by preparing necessary materials, briefing legal counsel, and coordinating with solicitors on the State Government Legal Panel.

Additional Duties

Legal work may also encompass advising on diverse legal matters including statutory interpretation and administrative law. Handling sensitive litigation and contributing to special projects related to civil litigation and personal injury claims are also expected.
