About the Role
The New York Post, a longstanding leader in news and entertainment with a monthly audience of 90 million unique viewers, is seeking a Social Media Intern to join their Audience Development team. This role offers hands-on experience with one of the most influential media brands, contributing to the management and growth of social media engagement across major platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in content creation and management for the New York Post's social media channels.
- Engage with followers by responding to comments and creating conversations.
- Identify and curate trending viral content to maintain dynamic feeds.
- Work closely with editorial staff to promote breaking news and exclusive stories.
- Analyze social media metrics to enhance content strategies and user engagement.
- Acquire practical skills in digital content production and audience expansion.
Candidate Requirements
- Current junior or senior undergraduate, master's student, or recent graduate (within one year) with a BA or MA degree.
- Passionate about social media with familiarity in a newsroom or news-related environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a creative approach to making impactful posts.
- Knowledgeable about current social media trends, viral topics, and pop culture in fast-paced news settings.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within teams, showing initiative and eagerness to learn.
- Prior experience with social media is beneficial but enthusiasm for digital content is essential.
Additional Information
This is a part-time, onsite internship running from February 2, 2026, to April 10, 2026, requiring approximately 24 hours per week. The internship offers a wage of $17 per hour.
