Overview

The New York Post is inviting applications for the role of Senior Manager, People Business Partner based in New York City. This position plays a pivotal role in collaborating with leaders across newsroom and commercial sectors, executing strategic initiatives within a fast-paced and high-profile media environment.

Reporting directly to the Human Resources Director, the incumbent will act as a trusted partner to both leadership and staff, driving organizational performance, talent management, employee engagement, and strengthening company culture. The role demands sound judgment, adaptability, and effectiveness in a performance-focused, deadline-driven setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with department heads and staff to synchronize HR strategies with editorial, commercial, and digital business priorities.
  • Assist with organizational design, workforce planning, and spearhead change management initiatives alongside senior HR leaders.
  • Provide expert advice on employee engagement methods, performance evaluations, talent development, and career pathing in dynamic teams.
  • Handle and resolve complex employee relations cases such as investigations, performance issues, and conflicts with discretion and sound decision-making.
  • Utilize data analytics and workforce insights to support strategic decisions and recommend viable solutions.
  • Foster transparent communication and nurture a culture emphasizing accountability, inclusion, and mutual trust.
  • Encourage innovative process improvements, including integration of AI tools, to boost team productivity.

Candidate Profile

  • A seasoned HR professional knowledgeable of business objectives who delivers practical, actionable HR solutions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in human resources, including at least 3 years as an HR Business Partner or similar client-focused role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience supporting high-velocity teams, especially in commercial, sales, or editorial/creative industries.
  • Strong expertise in employee relations, conducting investigations, and managing performance.
  • Knowledgeable about employment law and current HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to balance organizational partnership with employee advocacy.
  • Preferred experience working in complex, matrixed organizational structures.
  • Skilled in coaching, persuasion, and problem-solving.
  • Data-driven decision-maker comfortable using workforce metrics to inform actions.
  • Proficient in handling sensitive personnel matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Midtown Manhattan consistent with a hybrid work schedule.

Work Environment and Compensation

This position is based in the Midtown Manhattan office and follows a hybrid working model. The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000 annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses aligned with organizational goals. Bonus targets are determined considering market standards, skills, experience, and tenure.
