About Mintlify
Mintlify empowers builders with a documentation platform that reaches over 100 million developers annually and supports 20,000+ companies including major players like Anthropic, Microsoft, PayPal, Spotify, Coinbase, X, and more than 20% of the most recent YC batch. Although the team comprises just over 65 employees, the company has made significant strides, securing $45 million in Series B funding led by A16Z and Salesforce Ventures. Every team member significantly influences the company's future.
Role Overview
As Mintlify grows, informal team management methods are becoming insufficient. This position is responsible for establishing the necessary structure, compliance, and people infrastructure to maintain Mintlify as a great workplace while scaling. You will direct the People function by overseeing compliance in all operational jurisdictions, managing compensation philosophy and performance strategy, and providing leadership with ongoing insights regarding organizational health. Your main objectives are enhancing retention and employee engagement. While daily HR operations are handled by People Ops, you will develop and oversee strategy and lead that team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with founders and executives on workforce planning, organizational design, and people strategies.
- Enhance listening systems and deliver regular reports on employee well-being to the executive team.
- Proactively identify retention risks and implement interventions to prevent attrition.
- Ensure regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions; maintain company policies and the employee handbook.
- Develop and manage compensation strategies, including benchmarking, pay bands, equity refresh, and job architecture in coordination with Finance and Operations.
- Design and refine performance management processes, including performance review cycles.
- Support and develop management through coaching and structured growth programs.
- Use data-driven insights to continuously improve people programs and organizational decisions.
- Serve as a confidential resource for employees facing difficult or sensitive issues, such as conflicts or concerns.
- Manage employee departures respectfully, ensuring all downstream effects are considered.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive Human Resources or People Operations experience, including at least 3 years in leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success in early identification of people risk and executing strategies that significantly reduce attrition.
- Proven experience managing structured feedback/listening programs and translating results into actionable insights for leadership.
- Direct experience navigating the complexities of scaling organizations from 50 to over 150 employees.
- End-to-end ownership of performance management processes, including design, calibration, coaching, and compensation adjustments.
- Expertise in compensation strategy encompassing benchmarking, pay bands, and equity refresh planning.
- Knowledge of employment law and compliance across multiple states and internationally.
- Comfort delivering candid feedback to executive leadership and exercising exceptional discretion in sensitive matters.
- Experience supporting fast-growing companies and coaching managers at various levels with measurable outcomes.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with HR technology tools such as Rippling, Ashby, and Deel.
- Experience building or leading People teams; demonstrated ability to create foundational structures.
Work Environment
This role requires presence at Mintlify’s San Francisco headquarters, emphasizing collaboration and in-person teamwork as vital to the company’s culture and success.

- $420 monthly wellness stipend.
