Job description
About the role
Okta’s Brand and Creative team is hiring a Social Media Designer to shape the company’s visual presence across social channels, including LinkedIn and YouTube. This will be the first dedicated creative role focused on social, and it will establish the design benchmark for how the brand appears in feeds. Working closely with the Social team, you will create fast-moving, platform-native visuals that turn complex identity and security topics into content that grabs attention, encourages engagement, and gets shared.
The audience for this work is senior, highly technical, and cautious by nature, made up of leaders and practitioners in security and identity. A major thread of the content will support the “Okta Secures AI” narrative, which focuses on securing identity in the agentic era across both people and machines. The goal is to make that story impossible to ignore by presenting it with clarity, perspective, and a strong point of view. You should be comfortable stretching the brand in smart ways while keeping it clearly recognizable as Okta. This role calls for both strong design instincts and strong cultural awareness, along with the speed to move from concept to finished asset quickly.
What you will do
- Own design execution for Okta’s organic social presence, including static posts, carousels, and other feed-first formats from concept through final delivery.
- Create and refine repeatable creative systems that help turn business priorities into channel-specific content at pace.
- Turn the “Okta Secures AI” message into visually striking social content that earns attention, engagement, and sharing.
- Bring in cultural relevance in a way that still fits the expectations of a trusted security brand.
- Develop visuals and templates for the social advocacy program so employees and partners can easily share Okta content through their own networks.
- Work with the video team to strengthen YouTube performance through thumbnail design, playlist artwork, and related visual support.
- Expand how the brand shows up on social while protecting the core visual assets that make it distinct.
- Experiment with new formats, evaluate performance, and convert successful ideas into scalable best practices.
- Show creative direction to stakeholders and help guide other designers contributing to social work.
- Monitor platform updates and trend shifts, then bring relevant opportunities back to the team.
What experience you should bring
- A strong portfolio of social-first work that captured attention, drove engagement, and stayed consistent with the brand.
- Senior-level background designing for social platforms, preferably in-house or in a social-first environment, with demonstrated independence in leading work.
- Deep understanding of platform-native design and best practices, including YouTube.
- Proven ability to create content that people want to engage with and share, especially when the subject matter is technical or abstract.
- Strong sense of culture and sound judgment about how far to push creative ideas.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
- A test-and-learn approach, including comfort with experimentation, engagement data, and using insights to improve creative output.
- Ability to work quickly, iterate efficiently, and thrive in a fast-moving environment where new content is always due.
- Motion and video design experience would be an advantage.
- Experience in B2B or technology is helpful.
Why this role is compelling
- You will help define how a major identity and AI company presents itself in social feeds.
- You will collaborate with an embedded Social team that ships consistently.
- You will own the creative standard for social content and produce work that is seen, shared, and discussed.
- This is a chance to help build the social creative workflow and infrastructure from the ground up rather than simply inherit an existing process.
What makes a strong fit
- You put the audience first while still making the brand stronger.
- You bring taste, speed, and a clear perspective on what makes content effective.
- You can look at a complex idea and quickly sketch the version that people will actually stop for and pass along.
