About the role

Okta’s Brand and Creative group is hiring a Social Media Designer to shape the company’s visual presence across social channels, including LinkedIn and YouTube. As the first creative specialist focused entirely on social, you will establish the standard for how the brand looks and feels in the feed. You’ll work closely with the Social team each day, creating fast-moving content that turns complex identity and security topics into posts people notice, interact with, and pass along.

The audience is senior, technical, and highly discerning, with responsibility for security and identity decisions. A major theme of the work is “Okta Secures AI,” which focuses on protecting identity in the agentic era for both humans and machines. Your challenge is to present that story in a way that is simple, distinctive, and hard to ignore while still feeling unmistakably Okta. This role calls for someone who blends strong design instincts with cultural awareness, understands why content performs, and can move quickly from idea to finished asset.

What you'll do

  • Own design for Okta’s organic social presence, moving concepts through to published assets across static, carousel, and feed-first formats.
  • Create and refine repeatable content frameworks so business priorities can be translated into channel-ready social creative faster.
  • Turn the “Okta Secures AI” narrative into visually compelling content that captures attention and encourages engagement and sharing.
  • Infuse timely cultural relevance into the work while keeping it appropriate for a trusted security brand.
  • Develop assets and templates for the social advocacy program so employees and partners can easily share Okta content through their own networks.
  • Collaborate with the video team to improve YouTube performance by creating strong thumbnails, playlist artwork, and supporting visuals.
  • Advance the social version of the brand while protecting the core visual assets that make Okta recognizable.
  • Experiment with new ideas and formats, review performance results, and convert the best-performing approaches into durable best practices.
  • Share creative direction with stakeholders and guide other designers who contribute to social content.
  • Keep pace with platform updates and feed trends, then bring useful opportunities back to the team.

What we're looking for

  • A portfolio that demonstrates social-first work with strong scroll-stopping impact, engagement value, and brand consistency.
  • Senior-level social design experience, preferably in-house or in a social-led environment, with proven independence in leading work.
  • Deep knowledge of feed-native creative and platform-specific best practices, including YouTube.
  • Clear ability to make technical or abstract topics feel compelling and shareable.
  • Strong cultural instincts and sound judgment about how far to push an idea.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • A willingness to test ideas, interpret engagement data, and use insights to improve future work.
  • Comfort working quickly, iterating often, and thriving in a fast-moving environment where new content is always due.
  • Motion and video design ability is an added advantage.
  • Experience in B2B or technology is a plus.

Compensation and benefits

The annual base salary for candidates based in Canada is CAD 114,000 to CAD 157,300. Pay will be determined by factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. Depending on eligibility, the role may also include equity, a bonus, and benefits such as health, dental, and vision coverage, RRSP matching, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave including PTO and parental leave.

For reference, the posting also notes salary bands for other locations: San Francisco Bay Area candidates may fall within USD 143,000 to USD 196,900 annually, while candidates in California outside the Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington may fall within USD 128,000 to USD 176,000 annually.
