Job Overview
The Social Media Content Coordinator will enhance the team’s digital footprint by producing, capturing, and publishing content across various social channels. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day social media activities such as content creation, live event coverage, and content dissemination. Creativity, enthusiasm for sports, and a strong grasp of social media trends and platform-specific best practices are essential. The role demands quick identification of compelling real-time moments and innovative storytelling that connects culturally with fans, supported by experience in social-first video production and a deep understanding of basketball and pop culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the shooting and editing of social-first content for all Atlanta Hawks social media platforms and affiliated channels (e.g., College Park Skyhawks, Harry the Hawk, State Farm Arena channels).
- Provide on-site coverage during home and away games as well as select community events, capturing live highlights and behind-the-scenes content.
- Track and interpret real-time social media trends and viral conversations to create brand-relevant content.
- Manage daily content distribution and publishing ensuring posts are tailored with platform-optimized copy, tagging, and native feature utilization.
- Maintain proactive social media calendars and schedule organic and paid content in collaboration with Social Media Directors.
- Lead project management for assigned social campaigns, overseeing timelines, asset flow, and approvals across departments.
- Coordinate with Creative and Content teams to ensure social-first criteria are communicated and adhered to for upcoming projects.
- Assist with monitoring content performance metrics and contribute to campaign reporting as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of social media management experience for a brand or equivalent role.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related disciplines preferred.
- Familiarity with sports-specific content capture and highlight editing tools such as Clipro or AvGen is advantageous.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Proven capacity to handle complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to assimilate and embody the Atlanta Hawks brand voice, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in social media content.
- Comprehensive understanding of social media platforms including X (Twitter), Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, and YouTube with knowledge of best practices.
- Proficiency with mobile-first video editing; experience with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with NBA and basketball culture, with an ability to identify significant moments, player narratives, and contextual relevance live.
- Effective at cross-functional collaboration and influencing without direct authority.
- Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
