Job description
Company Overview
Canva is looking for someone to help shape how people experience design worldwide. The team culture is fast-moving, creative, and open to fresh perspectives, and the company welcomes applicants from many backgrounds and locations.
Role Summary
This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time role. It is fully remote within the US, with Los Angeles strongly preferred so the person in the role can align more easily with the Sydney-based creative team during key collaboration moments. All equipment needed to work from home will be provided.
What You'll Be Doing
You will support Canva's organic social presence and contribute to content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This position is more than a standard videography job: it combines camera work with creative thinking, trend awareness, and fast execution. The focus is on building Canva's US social presence in step with culture and current conversations.
- Capture and edit social-first content, mainly using an iPhone, with a style suited to TikTok and Instagram.
- Bring original concepts forward instead of only following briefs.
- Track US trends, popular culture, and breaking news in real time, then turn them into same-day content when needed.
- Work with the Social Lead to build entertainment-led series and culturally relevant brand activations that grow audience engagement.
- Create both quick, lo-fi reactive posts and more refined, cinematic edits depending on what the moment calls for.
- Contribute light graphic work or meme-style content when your strengths allow it.
What Makes a Strong Fit
The ideal candidate is a social-native creator who is comfortable filming on an iPhone or using a camera, knows when each approach is best, and understands how to make content stop the scroll. You should be active on TikTok and Instagram, confident generating ideas independently, and able to move from concept to publication without close supervision. The role suits someone who is used to fast turnaround work and can handle structured processes from corporate or agency environments.
Team Environment
The Social team is focused on making content that people genuinely want to watch, share, and discuss. The team values bold creative ideas, rapid experimentation, and an entertainment-led approach to brand building, with the aim of making Canva the leading brand on social media.
Additional Information
Hiring decisions are made based on experience, skills, merit, and business needs, while staying compliant with local laws. Canva encourages applicants from all backgrounds, including those whose experience does not match every listed requirement. Candidates should share their pronouns and note any reasonable interview accommodations when applying. Interviews are held virtually.
Compensation Notes
Canva aims to offer competitive pay informed by market data, internal equity, and the candidate's experience and skills. Final compensation is determined from a combination of market benchmarking and the overall hiring assessment.
Employment Terms
This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term arrangement and is intended for full-time hours.
