Shop Head - Maintenance and Operations

About the Role

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) delivers comprehensive solutions spanning the full asset life cycle, including licensed process technologies, advisory expertise, energy transition initiatives, advanced design, and smart asset optimization.

We are seeking a Shop Head to oversee daily operations of the SS division, which encompasses the welding and fabrication shop, scaffolding and insulation workshop, as well as the heavy lift and rigging unit. This role involves managing planned and unexpected equipment repairs to ensure the smooth functioning of all related facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire department, guiding employees, coordinating activities, evaluating performance, and ensuring project tasks meet deadlines consistent with company policies.
• Contribute to setting and implementing departmental goals, policies, procedures, and priority actions.
• Develop, refine, and monitor preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment breakdowns and guarantee operational equipment availability.
• Supervise daily operations across the welding & fabrication shop, scaffolding & insulation workshop, and heavy lift & rigging division; handle both scheduled and emergency equipment repairs.
• Allocate resources, equipment, and machinery for regular and urgent site requirements.
• Assess work plans and job requests, prioritize resource allocation, oversee workflows and procedures, identify gaps through team meetings, and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with planning teams by reviewing weekly plans and providing feedback to maximize schedule adherence.
• Liaise with internal departments, external workshops, and OEM dealers for repairs, parts procurement, and issue resolution.
• Ensure equipment and workshop facilities are maintained to meet Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
• Conduct safety audits regularly to pinpoint hazards and apply corrective measures.
• Coordinate and advocate for employees' safety and technical training programs.
• Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance performance, including timesheets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Respond quickly to emergencies and ensure thorough incident, accident, or violation reporting.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in refinery plant maintenance engineering or equivalent roles within refining environments.
• Strong expertise in refinery equipment and managing maintenance contracts.
• Solid understanding and adherence to safety regulations.
• Proven leadership skills in problem-solving within large organizations.
• Highly organized, proactive, and an effective communicator.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure with a strategic and open mindset.
• Demonstrated capability to deliver positive outcomes in multicultural settings.
• Willingness to undertake other related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

This position is located onsite in Rabigh, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, at KBR's facilities. The Shop Head will play a critical leadership role in ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across maintenance and workshop activities.
