Job description
Course Overview
The BTC1600H and 1610H Biopartnering Seminar is designed for life science and Digital Health Technology (DHT) professionals focusing on current trends in biotechnology. The curriculum offers a structured progression aligned with Management and Operations topics, including a mixture of invited seminars, student presentations, and instructor-led discussions on critical subjects such as regulatory environments, biotech reimbursement strategies, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and team management.
Course Details
- Estimated student enrollment is approximately 137.
- There is no Teaching Assistant support anticipated for this course.
- Classes are scheduled weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
- Instruction is expected to be delivered in-person; however, any changes will be communicated well in advance.
- The term of appointment runs from September 8, 2026, to December 24, 2026.
Compensation
The position offers remuneration at the Sessional Lecturer I level, with a salary of $19,105 inclusive of vacation pay, corresponding to a 0.5 Full Course Equivalent (FCE). In case of discrepancies, the rates specified in the relevant collective agreement take precedence.
Qualifications
- A PhD and/or significant industry experience is required.
- Prior teaching experience in accredited university courses is mandatory.
- An MBA along with substantial industry involvement is expected.
- Experience teaching biotechnology management and entrepreneurship at the graduate level is highly desirable.
Preferred Attributes
- Proven teaching excellence in this or a comparable course at the university level, evidenced by teaching evaluations.
- Preference is given to candidates who have advanced to Sessional Lecturer II or III rank according to Article 14:12 of the collective agreement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Designing and delivering the course content effectively.
- Engaging with students outside class hours via email and office hours.
- Creating, administering, and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
- Calculating and submitting student grades.
- Ordering all required reading materials for the course.
