Job description

Role Summary

Miller Transportation Group is a long-standing, family-run transportation business that has been operating since 1912 and continues to grow quickly. Its business includes vehicle sales, truck leasing, dedicated transportation services, and brokerage solutions. This position is for the Senior Vice President of Sales within the Miller Truck Leasing division in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

In this leadership role, you will build and execute a sales and merchandising strategy for the Leasing and Rental Sales teams so the division can achieve its revenue and profit targets across the full business as well as individual branches. The job calls for strong planning, coordination, measurement, and leadership across all sales-related activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and launch actions that support division-wide sales and profitability goals.
  • Design an annual merchandising plan to identify prospective lease and rental customers, stay connected with existing accounts, and support sales targets at both branch and aggregate levels.
  • Monitor market movements, competitor activity, and pricing trends in the broader and used-vehicle markets.
  • Evaluate sales deals submitted by the team and decide whether they should be approved.
  • Oversee delivery of leased vehicles to customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints quickly and in line with company policy.
  • Sell company products as directed by leadership.
  • Represent the business at assigned civic and business events.
  • Lead Account Managers and the Rental Manager in delivering annual full-service lease and rental marketing goals.
  • Support Regional Managers and Account Managers with proposal development, presentations, and closing efforts.
  • Hire, interview, recruit, and terminate staff as needed.
  • Train team members so they can perform their duties effectively.
  • Set up and delegate sales outreach activities.
  • Review performance and coach sales staff.
  • Track individual Account Manager records, Rental Sales team performance, and related activity for review with management.
  • Ensure customer contract documents are complete, legally compliant, and properly signed.
  • Verify lease applications sent to finance and insurance sources are filled out correctly.
  • Prepare sales reports, maintain customer files, and manage other department records.
  • Control departmental costs for Leasing and Rental operations.
  • Assess operating results using daily controls, monthly financial statements, and other reports, then act to meet budget and sales goals.
  • Review leasing and rental operations and recommend improvements to management.
  • Help leadership set company sales goals and budgets.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in the commercial truck leasing and rental industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading sales teams in the commercial truck leasing and rental space.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a graduate degree is acceptable but not mandatory.
  • Ability to learn the company systems needed to succeed in the role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing sales teams spread across multiple locations.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and documentation relevant to the role.

Work Conditions

The role is based in an office setting at a desk, but it also requires driving, meeting customers, and communicating both verbally and in writing. Work may also take place in or near a shop environment with noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a base salary of $250,000 to $300,000, plus bonus potential of up to 40% of salary and a car allowance.
