Job Overview
The Senior Vice President (SVP) will oversee all financial functions for the bank's local operations, supporting the Head Office's International Finance Department. This executive will be a primary liaison with regulatory bodies and auditors, ensuring compliance and fostering strong external relationships. The SVP manages the local tax framework, promotes sound corporate governance, and contributes to both strategic and operational decisions impacting financial outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Guarantee timely, accurate financial disclosures and compliance with local and international regulatory requirements.
- Monitor adherence to delegated financial authorities within the bank.
- Collaborate with the Country CEO to establish and track KPIs related to financial reporting performance.
- Drive cost control initiatives to optimize productivity and reduce waste.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, tax authorities, external auditors, and internal departments.
- Handle customer inquiries related to bank products and address their concerns efficiently.
- Ensure maintenance and accuracy of accounting functions including general ledger, payroll, payables, and receivables.
- Provide financial analysis and insights supporting management decision-making.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, ensuring alignment with actual results and ongoing performance.
- Manage tax compliance for various tax types such as direct, indirect, employment, and withholding taxes.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, encouraging innovative problem solving within the team.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of finance business processes, applicable regulations, local tax laws, IFRS standards, and risk management practices.
- Comply with all internal and external legal, regulatory, and risk management policies including AML, data protection, fraud control, and whistleblowing.
- Safeguard confidentiality of sensitive information and uphold high professional standards to protect the bank’s reputation.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, or a related field is required.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACA, or MBA are preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a financial reporting leadership role within banking.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency with advanced Excel and banking software systems.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, local regulations, tax systems, and IFRS standards.
- Expertise in risk management regarding liquidity and interest rate risks.
- Capability to manage external audits and tax authority interactions effectively.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and coordinate cross-functional teams.
