The Grocery & Retail sector at Uber is rapidly expanding, delivering groceries, alcohol, convenience items, and more via the Uber Eats platform. Positioned centrally, the US&C Retail Marketplace Operations team ensures marketplace health, efficiency, and reliability for customers, merchants, and couriers.

As a Senior Operations Manager specializing in Marketplace Strategy & Performance, you will drive strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing one of Uber's most intricate marketplace sectors. Your role involves leveraging data insights to evaluate marketplace performance and pinpoint opportunities to improve reliability, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and financial metrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate strategies that balance marketplace reliability, courier availability, user satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform analysis on extensive datasets to detect patterns, identify root causes, and discover opportunities for performance improvement.
• Steer operational projects from strategic conception through execution, continuously assessing results and enabling refinements.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Technology teams to influence product roadmaps, prioritize feature development, test new ideas, and support product launches.
• Create quantitative models to assess trade-offs among delivery speed, courier compensation, customer reliability, and operational costs.
• Drive in-depth evaluations of marketplace optimization levers, including courier matching, batching orders, delivery range, to boost reliability, speed, and efficiency.
• Develop analytics dashboards and reporting tools offering insights into marketplace performance for leadership decision-making.
• Communicate complex data-driven insights into clear, strategic narratives and analyses for senior stakeholders.
• Automate performance monitoring solutions to proactively flag emerging marketplace risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in fields such as consulting, investment banking, technology, operations, strategy, or analytics.
• Bachelor’s degree is a must.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python at an intermediate level for data manipulation and automation tasks.
• Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets for operational and financial modeling.

Preferred Experience

• 5 to 7 years in consulting, investment banking, operations, analytics, strategy, preferably within technology or marketplace sectors.
• Proven analytical thinking and problem-solving capability with a successful record of leading projects from start to finish.
• Exceptional business acumen, adept at making data-driven decisions swiftly amid uncertainty.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data Science groups.
• Strong communication and presentation prowess with confidence in briefing senior executives on complex data.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to forge trust-based relationships across teams.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges based on location are:

• Chicago, IL: $118,000 - $131,000 annually
• New York City, NY: $131,000 - $145,000 annually
• San Francisco, CA: $131,000 - $145,000 annually

Eligible candidates may receive bonuses, equity awards, and other compensation forms. Full-time employees have access to 401(k) plans and a variety of employee benefits.

Working Conditions

While remote work is permitted, employees must spend at least 50% of their working time at an office location unless otherwise approved. Certain roles require full-time onsite presence.
