Job description
About the organization
Export Development Canada (EDC) helps Canadian companies grow internationally by providing financing tools, specialist knowledge, and commercial support that reduce risk and open access to new markets. As Canada’s export credit agency, EDC supports exporters and investors as they expand abroad, contributing to stronger outcomes for Canada and global trade.
The Singapore office serves as EDC’s Asia Pacific hub, supporting customers across APAC and Canada more effectively as they expand and succeed internationally. EDC is also recognized as a Top 100 Employer and Top Family-Friendly Employer in Canada.
Role overview
EDC is hiring a Senior Regional HR Advisor, APAC to lead the people function for Singapore and the wider APAC region. This is a senior, independent HR role where you will be the only HR presence in the region, advising employees and leaders on sensitive and complex people issues while aligning local actions with the broader People and Culture strategy and HR centres of expertise at head office.
This permanent position is based in Singapore at Marina Bay Financial Centre. EDC currently works in a hybrid model, with two in-office days per week at present and an increase to three in-office days per week planned for September 2026, subject to change. Relocation support may be offered to candidates who meet the required criteria.
Compensation
The salary band for this HR Generalist 18-S level role is SGD 115,515 to SGD 154,020 annually, depending on qualifications and experience, and includes a performance-based incentive.
What you will do
- Work closely with leaders and employees to resolve day-to-day people matters and provide practical HR guidance that supports business goals.
- Coach managers on building strong teams, including handling difficult performance conversations, employee relations concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Support and strengthen EDC’s employer brand in Singapore, while running end-to-end recruitment for local and regional APAC hiring and ensuring a smooth hiring and onboarding experience.
- Drive talent programs and performance management activities that strengthen future capability, development, and accountability.
- Promote diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion initiatives that help create a respectful and welcoming workplace.
- Analyze HR data and employee trends to recommend improvements and enhance service delivery and internal processes.
- Act as the go-to expert on Singapore employment law and HR practices, identifying risks early and advising on policy and legislative compliance.
What we are looking for
- A relevant undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 7 to 10 years of progressive HR advisory experience, with strength in talent acquisition and employee relations.
- The ability to make sound decisions independently while still working in line with organizational priorities.
- Experience influencing senior leaders and earning trust across all levels of an organization.
- A proactive mindset with the confidence to question existing approaches and introduce better ideas.
- Strong understanding of the Singapore employment market, labour legislation, and employee relations practices.
- Availability to work early mornings and evenings when needed to collaborate with stakeholders and colleagues in North American time zones.
- IHRP-SP certification or an equivalent senior HR professional accreditation is preferred.
- Experience serving as the sole regional HR professional in a global corporate setting, preferably in financial services, is an advantage.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages related to the region are considered a plus.
Eligibility
EDC applies fair employment practices and will give preference to candidates who are legally able to work in Singapore at the time of application, including Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. Applicants must also meet the required government security screening standards.
Only candidates who meet all essential requirements and submit their application by the closing date will be considered.
