Position Overview
The Senior Innovation Lead in Financial Product Innovation is a permanent role located at EDC’s headquarters or various Community Hubs including Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, and others. The position operates within a hybrid working model with in-office attendance increasing from two to three days per week by September 2026. Competitive compensation ranges from $112,006 to $149,341 annually, complemented by performance-based incentives and relocation assistance where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full product lifecycle by leveraging internal and external data to measure product performance, market fit, and alignment with organizational strategy.
- Conduct in-depth product evaluations to identify enhancement opportunities, including repositioning or phasing out products with clear analysis of risks, benefits, and dependencies.
- Lead innovation and product discovery processes by prioritizing ideas based on customer, partner, and market needs, developing product vision and strategic roadmaps aligned with EDC priorities.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to design and implement new or improved financial products, ensuring scalability, risk compliance, and operational readiness.
- Facilitate pilot programs and oversee go-to-market strategies, defining success measures and managing dependencies for smooth launches.
- Integrate EDC’s risk frameworks and governance into all phases of product management, monitoring risk, escalating issues when needed, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Effectively engage stakeholders at multiple organizational levels and maintain external partnerships to ensure products address evolving market developments.
- Champion customer-centric decision-making by representing user needs and market insights during product discussions.
- Support team growth by mentoring, training, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in product management practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related discipline.
- A minimum of seven years in progressively responsible roles within product management, financial services, innovation, or solution delivery.
- In-depth understanding of financial products such as lending, insurance, guarantees, equity, and international trade finance.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities to transform market and financial data into actionable business insights.
- Proven ability to influence and facilitate discussions with senior leadership and diverse cross-functional teams.
- A customer-first approach in delivering value through cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Attributes
- Proficiency in English and French (bilingualism).
- Advanced degrees (MBA) or professional designations like CPA or CFA.
- Certifications in product management methodologies, such as Certified Product Manager (CPM) or Agile Product Owner.
- Experience in financial services innovation, public sector, consulting, fintech, or internationally oriented organizations.
