Role Overview
The Senior Innovation Lead within the Financial Product & Innovation team is responsible for directing product strategy, development, and lifecycle management of EDC's financial product suite. This role involves applying advanced product management principles combined with extensive knowledge of financial products to drive strategic initiatives that meet customer, partner, and business needs.
Primary Duties
- Utilize internal and external data sources to continuously monitor and evaluate the performance and relevance of the financial product portfolio, ensuring alignment with EDC's strategic goals.
- Lead comprehensive product assessments linking performance metrics with user requirements, market conditions, and competitive analysis to formulate strategic recommendations.
- Identify opportunities for product enhancements, repositioning, consolidation, or retirement by analyzing benefits, risks, dependencies, and impacts.
- Champion product discovery and innovation by collecting, prioritizing, and validating insights from customers, partners, and markets.
- Formulate product visions and roadmaps that align with business priorities and strategic objectives while supporting investment decisions through detailed business cases.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to define product specifications, implementation plans, and launch strategies that enhance customer experience and operational readiness.
- Embed risk management and governance frameworks into all stages of product design, development, and lifecycle oversight to ensure compliance and mitigate potential issues.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders across the organization and external partners to foster collaboration, promote shared ownership of outcomes, and maintain a customer-centric focus.
- Support leadership by sharing expertise, mentoring team members, and advancing the capabilities and professionalism of the Financial Product & Innovation team.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in product management, financial services, or related fields encompassing innovation and solution delivery.
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related disciplines.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial products such as lending, insurance, guarantees, equity, and international trade finance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data and market trends into strategic recommendations.
- Proven competencies in stakeholder management, strategic planning, facilitation, and influencing within multidisciplinary and senior-level environments.
- A customer-first approach with experience delivering value through financial products addressing meaningful needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
- Advanced education such as an MBA or professional credentials including CPA or CFA.
- Certifications in product management (e.g., Certified Product Manager, Agile product methodologies) or experience in applying such frameworks.
- Background in public sector, fintech, innovation, international organizations, or management consulting.
Employment Details
- Full-time permanent position based primarily in a hybrid work setting requiring two days in-office weekly, increasing to three days in September 2026, with office locations in Ottawa, Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, Laval, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver.
- Relocation support is available for eligible candidates.
- Salary range from $112,006 to $149,341 annually plus performance-related incentives, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
