Senior Officer - Station

Role overview

This position is focused on keeping fire and rescue capabilities fully operational through structured training, equipment upkeep, drills, and exercises. The role also requires a strong preventive approach to fire safety, along with the ability to build effective working relationships with Abu Dhabi Ports stakeholders and outside support agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily operational activities so emergency response remains effective and routine updates are reported accurately and on time to KP management.
• Take command at incident scenes when responding to emergencies, unexpected events, and assistance requests within AD Ports’ jurisdiction.
• Organize training and evaluation for team members through a competency-based assessment framework.
• Monitor the preventive maintenance program for all equipment used in response operations.
• Support the enforcement of applicable laws and ordinances within the port authority’s legal jurisdiction.
• Maintain a suitable fitness level for both personal readiness and that of subordinates.
• Follow all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to maintain a healthy and safe workplace.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety, Engineering, Science, HSE, or another relevant discipline is required; a master’s degree is an advantage.
• A firefighting certificate is strongly preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills are needed; Arabic is a plus.
• 1 year of similar experience is preferred, with consideration for candidates having 0 to 1 year of experience.

Additional knowledge and expectations

• Working knowledge of fire suppression methods, practices, and techniques.
• Understanding of fire and emergency response equipment operation and maintenance.
• Awareness of safety standards and precautions related to fire equipment use and suppression activities.
• Familiarity with supervisory methods and relevant government rules and regulations related to personnel procedures.
• Ability to demonstrate discipline on duty and behave responsibly and lawfully outside of work to protect AD Ports Group’s reputation.
• Availability to report on short notice within 3 hours in an emergency.
• Must maintain a neat appearance, be clean-shaven for proper SCBA use, and wear a clean, appropriate uniform at all times.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to use modern communication tools when required.
• Capacity to deal with the public in a polite yet authoritative manner.
• Ability to build and sustain productive working relationships with colleagues, public safety agencies, and the general public.
