Job Overview

The Airport Supervisor role is designed to support the Airport Manager by overseeing, supervising, and evaluating daily station activities to ensure operational safety, security, punctuality, efficiency, and seamless workflow. This position is integral to adhering to company policies as well as regulatory standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Airport Manager in overseeing operational and security functions to ensure daily activities run smoothly following Air Arabia's policies and the station's operation manual.
  • Supervise team briefings and debriefings, ramp and check-in processes, safety and security tasks, ensuring compliance with operational procedures; escalate any issues or delays to the Airport Manager for resolution.
  • Coordinate closely with the Airport Manager, Flight Operations, and the MCC to manage Aircraft On Ground situations, emergencies, technical delays, operational disruptions, and service restoration.
  • Report all incidents and accidents promptly to the Airport Manager and Head Office via specified communication channels and formats.
  • Immediately communicate any Dangerous Goods incidents to local authorities and corporate headquarters.
  • Issue clear instructions to all handling agent staff, support them in delivering effective passenger services, and lead them through critical and complex scenarios.
  • Provide relevant information to local authorities as required and disseminate advisories or circulars from Ground Operations to the appropriate teams.
  • Ensure handling agents consistently comply with company policies, procedures, and legislation; report any non-compliance to the Airport Manager for corrective action.
  • Oversee relationships with Ground Handling Agents (GHA), Ground Service Agents (GSA), and service level agreements to secure optimal performance, manage payments, arrange meetings, and communicate effectively; suggest improvements to protect Air Arabia's financial interests and corporate reputation.
  • Use delay and performance data analytics to track customer service levels, financial transactions, identify trends, and resolve recurring issues.
  • Monitor the baggage handling system actively, trace lost luggage, conduct investigations related to customer complaints, compile reports, and update the Airport Manager accordingly.
  • Assist Quality Assurance, Safety, and Security departments during audits to confirm compliance with relevant standards, ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Track airport revenue streams such as Excess Baggage, Go Show, Wheelchair, Seat Sales, supporting the airport team in achieving targets and delivering excellent services.
  • Provide necessary documentation and reports, including Flight Handling, Disruption, Incident/Accident, and Customer Complaint reports to the Airport Manager and Head Office.
  • Serve as deputy to the Airport Manager during their absence.

Educational and Training Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Administration or a related field from a recognized institution; alternatively, a diploma combined with applicable work experience.
  • Mandatory trainings on airport safety, security procedures, and regulations.
  • Essential certifications or training in IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Passenger Handling, and Ground Operations Procedures.
  • Additional certifications in Cost Control, Compliance, and Quality Assurance are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Passenger Handling Systems and Departure Control Systems (DCS).
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, internet browsing, and web research.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities, including report writing.
  • Fluency in English is essential; Arabic proficiency may be required depending on regional needs.

Professional Experience

  • Three to five years' relevant experience in airline, aviation, or ground handling agency sectors focused on passenger or ground operations.
  • At least two years in a supervisory capacity managing a station's departure and arrival flights; experience working with low-cost carriers is preferable.
  • Sound knowledge of IATA, Civil Aviation Authority regulations, and industry standards related to ground handling operations, including dealings with GHAs and GSAs.
  • Experience in passenger handling, cargo, ramp, dispatch, dangerous goods regulation, or load control.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships within the aviation market and industry to rapidly build credibility.
  • Skilled in monitoring and managing service level agreements.
  • Capable of enforcing policies, procedures, and operational manuals in compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, safety, security, and audit processes in ground operations.
  • Confident and composed under pressure, adept at managing emergencies effectively.
  • Strong skills in time management, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented, dynamic, and highly accurate in work execution.
