Job description
About Bolt
Bolt is building a world in which cities are designed around people rather than private cars. Founded in 2013 by a 19-year-old entrepreneur, the company has grown into a worldwide mobility platform serving over 200 million customers and 4.5 million driver and courier partners in 50 countries.
Its services span ride-hailing, food delivery, scooters, e-bikes, and car-sharing, supported by small autonomous teams that combine startup speed with the reach of a global technology business backed by more than €1bn in funding.
About the Role
Bolt is hiring a Senior Marketing Specialist to help grow monthly ride demand in Tanzania across all verticals. The role focuses on building and maintaining brand presence across social channels and online touchpoints, while also supporting the planning and delivery of local marketing initiatives in the market.
The position also involves helping shape communications to riders and drivers so that Bolt users receive clear, consistent messaging and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead local social community management and influencer collaborations across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok in Tanzania, working with the HQ team to strengthen ridership through creator-led campaigns and monthly performance analysis.
- Plan, launch, and improve lifecycle and performance campaigns through email, push notifications, and in-app messaging for both riders and drivers, while tracking results and localising advertising with HQ support.
- Identify, pitch, and run partnership campaigns with external brands and events that engage riders, drivers, and eaters, and oversee the production of all campaign assets while reviewing reach and engagement outcomes.
- Help organise and deliver local events, activations, and campaigns together with the local Marketing Manager, Community Specialists, and Operations teams, including practical on-ground support during event execution when needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on regional marketing experience in South Africa or East Africa, ideally in a fast-moving consumer tech, mobility, or food delivery setting.
- Strong capability in community building and influencer marketing on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, with familiarity with East African creator culture and digital trends.
- A strong creative approach backed by commercial goals, with the ability to shape locally relevant campaign ideas, brief visuals using tools such as Figma or Canva, and adapt global creative for local audiences.
- Comfort with data analysis and marketing tools, including performance dashboards and automation or ad platforms such as Meta Business Suite, Braze, or CleverTap.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle partnerships, lifecycle communications, and events across multiple stakeholders and markets.
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, and the ability to produce concise, engaging copy in Bolt’s direct and energetic brand tone.
Why Join Bolt
- Work on shaping the future of mobility and how people move through cities.
- Take on large-scale challenges across technology, operations, regulation, and growth.
- Enjoy early ownership in small, lean teams where your work has visible impact.
- Be part of one of Europe’s leading technology companies, supported by investors including Sequoia.
- Access career growth opportunities, salary, and stock options.
- Benefit from wellness support for physical and mental health.
- Receive a 1-month paid sabbatical after 5 years at Bolt.
- Join annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
- Work within a hybrid model that includes at least 12 in-office days each month.
