Role Overview
The position of Senior Manager, Healthcare Compliance for the Middle East leads strategic and operational compliance efforts for DePuy Synthes’ orthopedics business within this highly regulated region. Working closely with regional leadership, legal teams, and compliance functions, the role ensures adherence to healthcare laws and ethical business conduct, enabling sustainable growth while safeguarding the company’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the chief Healthcare Compliance Officer for Middle East territories.
- Develop and implement compliance strategies that align with global and regional priorities.
- Recognize, evaluate, and oversee compliance risks tied to commercial, promotional, educational, and operational activities.
- Offer practical, forward-looking compliance guidance to business leaders to support ethical decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate effective compliance controls within business processes and market approaches.
- Manage core compliance initiatives including training, monitoring, risk assessment, and handling compliance issues.
- Coordinate with Legal and other departments on investigations, audits, and regulatory engagements.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends in the Middle East to pre-empt emerging risks.
- Deliver compliance risk analyses, insights, and recommendations to leadership at various levels.
- Cultivate a workplace culture that emphasizes integrity, accountability, and openness across supported markets.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Compliance, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related disciplines; advanced degrees or professional certifications in Compliance, Legal, Risk, or Ethics favored.
- 8 to 10 years of advancing experience in healthcare compliance, legal, risk, or audit roles.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance legislation, regulations, and codes across Middle Eastern jurisdictions.
- Proven leadership managing complex and multi-national compliance programs.
- Adept at building collaborative partnerships with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with ability to influence without authority.
- Experience within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences sectors is advantageous.
- Prior exposure to Middle East healthcare compliance within a global enterprise preferred.
- Familiarity with compliance auditing, investigations, remediation, and monitoring.
- Experience operating in diverse, matrixed environments with strong change management skills.
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 20–30%, mainly within the Middle East.
Additional Information
Johnson & Johnson plans to spin off its orthopedics business into a standalone company named DePuy Synthes within the next 18 to 24 months, subject to legal and regulatory approvals.
