Role Overview
This senior-level position is tasked with formulating and executing the overarching athlete marketing strategy within Canada, ensuring it aligns with the company’s global vision and addresses specific regional objectives. The position covers the stewardship of a diverse, national roster of athletes and the management of influential relationships with sports teams, leagues, and federations.
Key Responsibilities
- Steer the national athlete marketing direction, integrating global priorities with local realities.
- Foster impactful collaborations with internal teams such as Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to deliver comprehensive annual plans.
- Drive innovation in athlete activations, media initiatives, and content creation, from ideation through to launch.
- Expand the brand’s footprint in mainstream and niche sports, fitness, and lifestyle arenas while adapting to emerging industry trends and new partnership opportunities.
- Negotiate and maintain partnerships with athlete agents, creative agencies, and external partners, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements and strong representation.
- Lead athlete selection, onboarding, branding support, and performance tracking while ensuring the portfolio’s quality and balance.
- Supervise the execution of national athlete marketing activities across all relevant retail and field channels.
- Create tools, training materials, and streamlined processes for tracking, evaluating, and reporting on athlete program outcomes.
- Offer mentorship and development guidance to marketing managers and specialists, driving a culture of creativity and accountability.
- Coordinate multi-level communication strategies, incorporating digital, social media, and collaborative content to amplify athlete stories.
- Oversee budgeting for national athlete efforts, anchored in ROI analysis and performance reviews.
Partnership and Communication
- Spot and engage suitable sports organizations to further expand market presence regionally.
- Lead and advise the broader team on forming authentic, strategic partnerships to enhance brand value and impact, including within new sporting disciplines.
- Maintain effective, clear communication with stakeholders, from athletes and trainers to agencies and media, to reinforce the brand’s market position.
- Establish Red Bull as a leading functional beverage in sports via product knowledge campaigns and stakeholder education.
Administration, Leadership & Inclusion
- Provide strategic feedback, performance reviews, and compensation planning for direct reports.
- Enhance compliance within internal systems and maintain accurate reporting for sports marketing activities.
- Champion diversity and accessibility across all recruitment and operational processes, supporting an inclusive environment for all candidates and stakeholders.
Additional Information
- The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $111,278 to $122,992 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications, with additional annual bonus eligibility.
