As a member of VINCI Construction, we blend international knowledge with local expertise to foster a high-performing atmosphere where our employees excel and deliver outstanding results.
Our Commitment to Safety
Health and safety are at the core of our operations. This dedication was recently acknowledged when our team won awards at the 2026 New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety Awards for excellence in Engagement and Safety II (HOP). This accolade highlights our strong safety culture and effective partnership across the business to ensure the wellbeing of our people.
Role Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Health & Safety leader to join us in a pivotal capacity, with location flexibility in Auckland, Tauranga, or Christchurch. This position involves leading the national Health & Safety Advisory function by providing clear vision, direction, and unity among a team of skilled Health & Safety Advisors. The role includes shaping and embedding best-in-class health and safety practices that promote safe and efficient operations across HEB.
Collaborating closely with our National Health & Safety Manager, Executive leadership, senior stakeholders, and operational heads, you will play a critical role in enhancing organizational learning from incidents, strengthening the advisory team's capabilities, and advancing our second line of defense health and safety assurance strategy to remain industry-leading.
Key Duties
- Inspire and manage a dispersed team of six experienced Health & Safety Advisors to create a cohesive, high-achieving advisory group.
- Engage and influence senior management and project leads to promote and drive health and safety improvements.
- Lead best practice initiatives and provide strategic guidance for the continuous development of HEB's health and safety framework.
- Oversee critical risk management, assurance processes, and ongoing enhancement projects.
- Steer incident investigations to extract meaningful lessons and ensure knowledge is shared across the organization.
- Direct the execution of major health and safety programs aligned with business objectives.
- Track and report safety metrics, offering actionable insights to guide decision-making.
- Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and proactive leadership in health and safety throughout the company.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive leadership experience in health and safety within the construction or civil infrastructure sectors.
- Proven track record in managing and developing high-performing health and safety teams across multiple locations.
- Experienced in engaging with senior leadership teams and influencing organizational health and safety outcomes.
- Solid knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and critical risk management methodologies.
- A strategic thinker who maintains close connection with on-the-ground delivery environments.
- Excellent communication, coaching capabilities, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
