Overview

The Senior Finance Specialist focused on Inventory and Fixed Assets is tasked with ensuring precise accounting, governance, and reporting aligned with IFRS standards and company guidelines. This position handles inventory management for Retail, Food & Beverage, and Spare Parts divisions, while managing the entire fixed asset lifecycle, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and related reporting activities. The role also underpins financial accuracy, audit preparedness, and efficient asset stewardship across various projects and operational units.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire fixed asset lifecycle encompassing acquisition, capitalization, transfers, depreciation, impairment evaluations, and disposals adhering to accounting regulations.
  • Track assets under construction (AUC) and capital work in progress (CWIP), ensuring timely and precise capitalization once projects conclude.
  • Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register with the organization's General Ledger and Trial Balance.
  • Ensure proper classification, tagging, and assignment of useful life to assets.
  • Examine capital expenditure transactions and verify correct classification between CAPEX and OPEX.
  • Supervise and validate inventory transactions across ERP and warehouse platforms.
  • Conduct physical stock takes, cycle counts, reconciliations, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory valuation processes, including provisions for obsolescence and write-offs following IAS 2 guidelines.
  • Guarantee accurate documentation of inventory balances and consumption flows.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to depreciation and inventory accounting.
  • Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing routines.
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers to the General Ledger for both inventory and fixed assets.
  • Generate reports and schedules for management and financial leadership review.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS, internal policies, delegation of authority thresholds, and compliance requirements.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, reconciliations, and clarifications.
  • Participate in physical verification of assets and inventory; address any variances found.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Project Management, Operations, and Finance teams regarding asset and inventory transactions.
  • Review purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices to validate appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and implement system improvements.
  • Support data integrity and utilization across ERP and associated subsystems.

Systems and Tools

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as SAP FI and MM modules.
  • Inventory and warehouse management systems.
  • Fixed asset sub-ledger and project management systems.
  • Analytical and reporting tools including Microsoft Excel and Business Intelligence platforms.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional finance or accounting certification (CPA, SOCPA, CFA, CFP) preferred but not mandatory.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience specializing in Fixed Assets or Financial Accounting domains.
  • Strong familiarity with IFRS standards, specifically IAS 16 (Property, Plant and Equipment), IAS 36 (Impairment of Assets), and IAS 38 (Intangible Assets).
  • Working knowledge of IFRS inventory accounting standards (IAS 2) and associated internal controls.
  • Experience operating within ERP environments, particularly SAP FI.
