Job description
Overview
The Ministry of Law plays a pivotal role in maintaining a robust legal framework, managing intellectual property systems, insolvency regulations, and efficient land resource utilization to support Singapore's national objectives.
This role is situated in the Individual Insolvency and Debt Repayment Scheme Division within the Insolvency & Public Trustee's Office (IPTO). The incumbent will oversee comprehensive case management related to the Debt Repayment Scheme and interact with debtors, creditors, governmental agencies, and legal firms.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate applications from debtors applying for the Debt Repayment Scheme.
- Review and verify documentation submitted by debtors to ascertain their financial status, including assets and liabilities.
- Organize and facilitate creditors' meetings to establish repayment plans for debtors.
- Supervise adherence to agreed repayment schedules by debtors.
- Serve as the communication liaison addressing inquiries from debtors and creditors.
- Manage payments disbursed to creditors on behalf of debtors.
- Reassess cases to determine if debt repayment plans should end due to completion, default, or other applicable reasons.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Collaboration with other government agencies to balance enforcement goals with empathetic service delivery.
- Solid knowledge of relevant public service laws and regulations such as the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act, Companies Act, and Penal Code, with the ability to apply these in both digital and physical contexts.
- Competence in evidence collection, documentation, and proper handling as per agency guidelines to ensure case integrity.
- Strict adherence to professional and ethical standards throughout case processing stages.
- Proficiency in interviewing methods to obtain critical information related to cases.
- Capability to plan and carry out daily operations in line with established Standard Operating Procedures.
Personal Attributes and Experience
- Academic background preferably in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Law.
- Between 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, ideally incorporating some customer service exposure.
- Excellent attention to detail with aptitude for handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal capabilities coupled with effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited oversight.
- Dynamic team player with positive energy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Additional Information
The selected candidate will be engaged under a non-renewable contract lasting 11 months.
