Job description

About The Lunch Bag

The Lunch Bag is Ireland's leading provider of nutritious, hot school meals, committed to fostering healthy eating habits among children nationwide. We deliver freshly prepared meals to schools, aiming to make a positive difference one lunch at a time.

Job Overview

We are seeking reliable and cheerful School Meals Workers to serve as the final crucial link in our meal delivery process. After meals are prepared at our Nenagh headquarters, you will be responsible for heating and distributing them to classrooms, ensuring each child enjoys a warm, healthy lunch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load pre-packaged meals into ovens and operate ovens to heat meals to designated HACCP-approved temperatures.
  • Unpack heated meals and distribute them accurately to classrooms.
  • Maintain sufficient stock levels of meals and snacks throughout the day.
  • Adhere to and maintain cleaning and work schedules consistently.
  • Record temperature and cleaning data meticulously.
  • Replenish fruit bowls in classrooms and hand out snacks as needed.
  • Participate in provided HACCP and Manual Handling training sessions.

Candidate Profile

We seek individuals who are dependable, good-natured, and take pride in executing their duties properly. Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 14kg and handle some stair climbing is required, as not all schools have lifts. Prior experience with children or food services is a bonus but not essential. Good English reading skills and attentiveness in following instructions are necessary.

Work Schedule and Benefits

  • This part-time position entails working 5 hours daily, Monday to Friday.
  • The role aligns with the school calendar, typically covering approximately 183 working days annually, with breaks during school holidays.
  • Compensation is competitive at €14.65 per hour.
  • Enjoy a supportive, friendly work environment within school settings and have flexibility ideal for those easing back into work or seeking term-time stability.
