About The Lunch Bag

The Lunch Bag is Ireland’s prominent provider of nutritious, hot school meals, dedicated to supporting children's healthy eating habits nationwide. We take pride in contributing positively to children's daily school experience and are committed to making a meaningful impact, one meal at a time.

Role Overview

We seek reliable and cheerful School Meal Workers to manage the final stage of our meal delivery process at Hot Drop locations. This role involves heating pre-packaged school meals following precise temperature guidelines, preparing them for transport, and delivering these meals to local schools. You will be the friendly face representing our brand, ensuring the meals arrive safely and on time to brighten the school day.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Load pre-packaged meals into ovens and heat them to temperatures specified by HACCP standards.
  • Unload heated meals from ovens and arrange them in delivery vans.
  • Transport meals using company vehicles to designated schools within the local area.
  • Monitor and maintain sufficient stock levels at Hot Drop sites.
  • Adhere to established work, cleaning, temperature, and hygiene protocols, maintaining accurate records.
  • Engage with training programs including HACCP and Manual Handling to ensure compliance and safety.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Motivated individuals who embody reliability, a positive attitude, and a genuine commitment to performing well.
  • Physical capability to lift boxes weighing up to 14kg and the ability to navigate stairs as some facilities lack elevators.
  • Strong ability to work efficiently under time pressure while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Basic English literacy to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Possession of a full, clean Irish driving license and readiness to conduct approximately one-hour local deliveries.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • This part-time position consists of approximately 5 hours daily from Monday to Friday, typically starting at 08:00 and ending by 13:00, with some variation possible.
  • Work aligns with the academic calendar, spanning around 183 days annually, with breaks corresponding to school holidays, offering seasonal relief.
  • Staff are registered as Educational Sector Workers for social welfare during off periods.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay at €14.65, which is 50 cents above the minimum wage.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment focused on well-being and mutual assistance.
  • Role flexibility, making it suitable for those seeking steady, balanced work especially during school terms.
