About The Lunch Bag

The Lunch Bag specializes in delivering nutritious, hot meals to schoolchildren across Ireland, aiming to foster healthy eating habits from an early age. As the leading provider in this field, we strive to impact children’s lives positively, one lunch at a time.

Role Overview

We seek dependable and cheerful individuals to join us as School Lunch Operatives, responsible for the final preparation and delivery stage of our meal service. Your primary tasks will include reheating meals at designated Hot Drop locations, organizing them for transport, and ensuring timely delivery to schools.

Key Duties

  • Place packaged school meals into ovens and heat them to required temperatures in compliance with HACCP standards.
  • Remove heated meals and arrange them into company vans for distribution.
  • Drive and deliver meals to local schools efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels adequately.
  • Adhere to work schedules and complete cleaning procedures methodically.
  • Keep accurate records related to temperature monitoring and hygiene standards.
  • Receive training in HACCP protocols and manual handling.

Candidate Profile

We value positive, responsible team members who care about performing their role thoroughly. Physical fitness to lift 14kg boxes and ability to navigate stairs in some facilities are essential. Fluency in English and possession of a valid, clean Irish driving license are required. Quick, calm, and conscientious work ethic under pressure is important, along with a friendly disposition suitable for representing our brand in school environments.

Working Hours & Schedule

This part-time position involves working roughly five hours daily from Monday to Friday, typically between 08:00 and 13:00 with some timing flexibility. The role aligns with the academic year, meaning about 183 workdays annually with breaks during school holidays. Employees may register as Educational Sector Workers with Social Welfare during summer breaks.

Compensation and Benefits

You will receive an hourly wage of €14.65, which is slightly above the national minimum. Benefits include working within a supportive team environment and gaining flexible, steady employment ideal for those easing back into work or seeking term-based schedules.
