Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort, collect, and deliver mail ensuring safety and timeliness.
- Serve as a qualified substitute or helper during colleague absences or additional workload.
- Develop and maintain familiarity with local roads, customer locations, and delivery points.
- Safeguard mail throughout the delivery process.
- Process Canada Post services including Change of Address, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bill (IDB).
- Wear visible Canada Post identification while performing mail deliveries and collections.
- Lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg).
- Operate motor vehicles under all weather and traffic circumstances safely.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold a valid permanent provincial driver’s license (class 5 or G).
- Maintain a record of safe driving, supported by a driver's abstract.
- Fluency in French is essential for effective communication.
Vehicle Requirements
- Vehicle must have a minimum cargo capacity of 50 cubic feet (1415 liters).
- Automatic transmission and power windows are required.
- Metal rooftop and accessory power outlet to accommodate Canada Post signage and flashing light.
- Passenger window sill height between 38" and 45" from the ground, and interior width no greater than 56".
- Fifth door or hatchback preferred to facilitate loading larger items.
- Vehicle insurance coverage must be provided and maintained, with insurance company notified of vehicle use for postal service.
Compensation and Working Conditions
- Annual total compensation ranges from $22,904 to $25,573, which includes wages, vehicle expenses, and variable allowances.
- Minimum annual wages are $15,121, maximum annual wages $17,789.
- Vehicle allowance totals approximately $7,452 annually.
- Variable allowances approximately $331 yearly for tasks such as unaddressed admail sets, personal contact, and lock changes.
- Weekly work hours estimate between 8.58 and 12.75 hours over a five-day workweek, excluding time for variables.
- Route distance is about 42.7 km with 88 delivery points.
