Job description
Role summary
This position is centered on keeping guest bedrooms, bathrooms, and shared corridor areas spotless, well maintained, and presented to a very high standard. The goal is to create a strong first impression through exceptional cleanliness and consistent service, while helping the housekeeping team deliver a smooth and positive guest experience.
About the hotel culture
Village Hotels values personality, real connections, and a service style that feels warm and human. The company encourages team members to be themselves, take responsibility for their work, pick up new abilities, and progress in their careers. A positive attitude, energy, and willingness to work with others are considered more important than prior experience.
What the team believes in
- We Can & We Do: Deliver meaningful results every day, work with purpose, get things right the first time, meet room productivity targets, and keep standards consistently excellent.
- We Will: Treat colleagues with respect and dignity, avoid unnecessary conflict, support each other during busy periods, and work as one team.
- We Care: Be mindful of guests, the local community, and teammates; protect guest privacy and belongings; use cleaning products responsibly to reduce waste; and maintain a polite, professional presence in public areas.
Key duties
- Clean and refresh guest rooms, bathrooms, and corridors to a consistently high level of hygiene and presentation.
- Replenish guest supplies, linens, and amenities, and respond promptly and positively to guest requests.
- Keep your housekeeping trolley tidy, organised, fully stocked, and ready for use throughout the shift.
- Report repairs, damage, or missing items to the leadership team as soon as they are noticed.
- Follow health, safety, hygiene, and COSHH requirements when using equipment and cleaning chemicals.
How success works here
The role is built around ownership and trust rather than micromanagement. You will be expected to manage your room allocations, maintain your pace, and take responsibility for your own performance. Training, feedback from inspections and audits, and ongoing support are provided to help improve skills, strengthen standards, and contribute to guest satisfaction and mystery guest targets.
Perks and support
- Two complimentary gym memberships at your home hotel.
- Hotel rooms available from £20 across 35 hotels.
- 50% discount on food and drinks for you and up to 5 guests.
- 75% off Sunday dinner for up to 6 people.
- 25% off food and beverage for up to 2 friends or family members, even when you are not present.
- Access to hundreds of retail and lifestyle discounts through the Village app.
- 24/7 mental health support through the Employee Assistance Programme.
Who this role suits

Application approach
Applications are welcomed from people who bring energy, personality, and ambition to the role. The company is interested in meeting candidates who enjoy service work and want to contribute to a high-performing housekeeping team.
