Role Overview
The Rigger position focuses on supporting deck activities on client platforms, ensuring safe and effective crane, lifting, and support operations following company protocols. The role emphasizes safety leadership, ongoing skill development, and collaboration with crane operators and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all lifting activities onshore or offshore under direction from the Crane Supervisor, Deck Foreman, or client representatives.
- Perform banking and signaling duties when needed.
- Attach and detach loads to cranes securely, selecting appropriate rigging arrangements aligned with planned lifts and verifying their condition before use.
- Inspect lifting equipment for certification, color coding, capacity, and operational integrity prior to lifts.
- Direct crane and load movements through designated signaling methods.
- Maintain full control of loads using tag lines or other measures as required.
- Assess load weights, center of gravity impacts, and balance loads accurately. Judge distances, heights, and clearances effectively.
- Ensure loads without stated or known weights are not lifted.
- Contribute to planning and risk assessments for routine and complex crane-lifting tasks on client platforms.
- Maintain broad engineering knowledge to execute daily inspections of loose lifting equipment.
- Possess multi-disciplinary skills to perform additional platform duties, including firefighting, fire standby, and deck work when necessary.
- Prepare reports, risk assessments, logs, and other relevant documentation.
- Support upkeep of lifting appliances and cranes, keeping them clean and orderly.
- Keep loose lifting equipment safe and functional, conducting pre-use inspections and minor repairs such as safety catch fixes.
- Assist Third Party Inspection (TPI) teams during biannual equipment inspection and recertification campaigns.
- Help crane operators and maintainers with routine maintenance and act as a maintenance technician when required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Fluent English reading and writing skills.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Educational qualification of higher secondary school certificate or its equivalent.
- At least 5 years of offshore experience in rigging roles.
- Completion of company-authorized training and assessments every two years by qualified assessors.
- Preferred certification in ADNOC TPA Level 3 rigging competency.
- Preferred competency certifications for Banksman/Signaller and Overhead Crane Operator as approved by ADNOC TPA assessors.
- Comprehensive understanding of crane capabilities and limitations in offshore settings.
- Candidates new to offshore platforms must undertake supervised familiarization with specific operational procedures before performing lifting tasks.
