Job description
About the Company
JD Sports is a globally recognised sports fashion retailer known for footwear and apparel. Established in 1981 in Greater Manchester, the business has grown rapidly around the world and now operates more than 3,400 stores. In Australia, the brand launched in 2017 and has since expanded to over 70 stores across Australia and New Zealand, with continued growth planned across the region. The company describes itself as more than a retailer, positioning itself as a brand built around sport, music and fashion, with a culture that values originality, ambition and a non-conforming mindset.
Role Overview
This role is for a commercially focused Retail Marketing Executive to support growth across Australia and New Zealand. The position combines retail, trade and brand marketing, with an emphasis on campaigns that increase store traffic, strengthen customer engagement and improve sales performance. It is suited to someone who understands how marketing activity converts into footfall and commercial results, and who enjoys delivering execution-led campaigns with measurable impact.
You will contribute to major promotional activity, tactical campaigns, seasonal events and important trading moments through the year. The role requires close collaboration with Retail Operations, Buying, Merchandising, Brand Partners and Centre Management to ensure campaigns are delivered effectively and align with business KPIs. This is a hands-on, commercially driven marketing role rather than a purely creative one.
Key Duties
- Plan and deliver retail and trade marketing campaigns from initial coordination through to final execution.
- Oversee point-of-sale materials, visual merchandising needs and in-store campaign rollout.
- Make sure all activity launches on schedule and meets JD’s premium brand expectations.
- Assist with campaign delivery across Australia and New Zealand.
- Coordinate marketing support for new store openings, including planning, timelines and stakeholder updates.
- Manage critical paths, launch activations, campaign assets and on-site opening support.
- Support campaigns designed to lift store traffic, customer interaction and sales outcomes.
- Monitor performance data, review results and identify opportunities to improve future campaigns.
- Lead key retail trading moments such as promotions, sales events and seasonal activity.
- Manage several overlapping campaigns while maintaining strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams across Retail Operations, Buying, Merchandising, Digital and Distribution.
- Maintain effective relationships with shopping centres, agencies, suppliers and other external partners.
- Spot local marketing opportunities that can strengthen community connection and retail performance.
- Contribute to brand-building, community partnerships and local activation work across ANZ.
- Support alignment with global teams to maintain consistent brand execution.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has practical experience in trade, retail or commercial marketing and enjoys taking ownership of campaigns from concept through to delivery and reporting. You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, managing competing priorities and building productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Additional Information
Applicants should note that the employer may carry out a Work Rights check where required to confirm eligibility to work. The company also highlights its commitment to employee growth, diversity, inclusion and a workplace where people feel valued and celebrated.
What You’ll Gain
This opportunity offers the chance to work from a new Sydney CBD office and contribute to a fast-growing global brand. The position includes exposure to high-profile campaigns, store openings and brand activations, along with access to career development in an expanding business.
Employee benefits mentioned include generous staff discounts for employees, friends and family, wellbeing initiatives, an Employee Assistance Program, paid parental leave, birthday leave, and a lively team culture with regular events and celebrations.
Who Should Apply
This role is best suited to a marketing professional who enjoys the pace and energy of retail and is motivated by turning campaigns into real commercial outcomes. It is a strong fit for someone who is passionate about retail, sport, youth culture and creating meaningful customer experiences through marketing.
