Position Overview
This leadership role, based in the United States, is entrusted with spearheading strategic development, operational excellence, and impactful missions within Latin America. The selected candidate will direct regional efforts that enhance partnerships, regulatory engagement, and the distribution of superior healthcare solutions.
Handling a diverse, multidisciplinary team, the role demands alignment of regional efforts with global goals and organizational directives. Ideal applicants will possess strategic insight, financial expertise, public health knowledge, and strong relationship management skills.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the regional strategy for Latin America in line with international priorities and health objectives.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to broaden adoption of scientific protocols, services, alliances, and programs in the region.
- Advise senior management on regional risks, trends, opportunities, and evolving policies.
- Establish and maintain influential connections with regulators, governments, healthcare entities, academia, and industry partners.
- Represent the organization in local and global forums, technical committees, and policy dialogues.
- Manage financial outcomes regionally, including revenue generation, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and sustainability efforts.
- Ensure operational excellence through compliance, quality assurance, risk oversight, and inter-team coordination.
- Lead diverse teams across countries by promoting a culture of teamwork, responsibility, ethics, and innovation.
- Encourage strategic partnerships, public-private ventures, grants, and goal-aligned initiatives.
- Act as the regional representative to enhance reputation, trust, and stakeholder relations across Latin America.
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Public Health, Business, or related fields; MBA or PhD is advantageous.
- Over 15 years of progressive leadership experience, including senior roles covering Latin America.
- Proven track record working in regulated sectors like pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or public health.
- Experience managing profit and loss responsibilities and overseeing complex, multi-national operations.
- In-depth knowledge of Latin American regulatory landscapes, health systems, and market dynamics.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English, coupled with advanced Spanish language skills.
- Preferred experience with nonprofits, standards development, regulatory affairs, pharmaceutical markets, or mission-focused organizations.
- Established networks with regional health authorities, international bodies, and key industry players are highly regarded.
- Strong leadership qualities, including strategic thinking, commanding presence, stakeholder engagement, and intercultural collaboration.
- Unwavering integrity, ethical decision-making, and ability to foster trust within complex settings.
- Excellent communication skills capable of influencing diverse groups without direct authority to align common goals.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30-40% throughout the Latin American region.
