Role Overview
This position involves leading financial markets sales efforts targeted at small and medium enterprises (SME) and the retail client base. The role focuses on advising clients and delivering sales of foreign exchange, derivatives, and risk management products, aiming to enhance revenue and profitability for the bank. The leader will manage their portfolio across multiple regions while mentoring a team of Financial Markets Product Sales Managers (FM PSMs). Compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting market intelligence, client insights, and competitive analyses to contribute to developing the financial markets business strategies.
- Support execution of the Retail Financial Markets sales strategy by aligning daily sales operations to defined objectives and participating in zonal sales planning.
- Play a role in budgeting by preparing essential data, monitoring expenditure, and making budget allocation recommendations within the team.
- Track budget usage across regions, ensuring resource efficiency and alerting senior management of deviations for timely resolution.
- Help implement sales policies and processes, providing operational feedback and ensuring team adherence.
- Promote a culture of innovation and continuous enhancement by embracing updated practices, reacting to shifts in the market, and disseminating best practices.
- Escalate non-compliance issues appropriately and support identification of systemic gaps to improve processes.
- Lead advisory consultations and sales for FX, derivatives, and risk mitigation offerings tailored to SME and retail clients’ financial objectives.
- Drive new client acquisition initiatives for customized foreign exchange solutions while ensuring compliance.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators including turnover, revenue, and customer onboarding.
- Contribute insights to product development through client feedback and foster automation of Business Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Identify emerging client segments and assist with preliminary data analysis to tap into new business prospects.
- Oversee accurate and timely FX transaction documentation in collaboration with internal teams and clients.
- Manage customer relationships effectively to enhance client engagement, retention, and overall growth.
- Collaborate with various internal business units to maximize forex cross-selling opportunities and deliver integrated financial solutions driving fee income.
- Work closely with risk advisors, relationship managers, and product development teams to expand client portfolios and support acquisition activities.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an equivalent field is essential.
- Master’s degree in business administration or related discipline is desirable.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience specifically in financial markets or treasury within the banking sector, encompassing an overall banking tenure exceeding 10 years.
- Preferably, over 12 years of focused experience in financial markets or treasury operations.
