Role Overview

The Regional Controller will manage the financial operations of assigned youth and amateur sports facilities within KemperSports. This role involves supervising business managers at these properties and overseeing financial statement preparation and operational analysis to support management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage financial activities at assigned properties, ensuring timely and accurate financial reports, adherence to internal controls, budget formulation, and cash flow oversight.
  • Provide initial accounting and point of sale support to properties under management.
  • Supervise accounting staff across assigned locations.
  • Collaborate closely with on-site management and Regional Operating Executives to deliver financial reporting and operational analysis.
  • Supply relevant departments and company units with necessary financial information to fulfill their roles.
  • Enhance operational performance by recommending and implementing productivity improvements, cost reductions, efficiency gains, and adoption of modern practices.
  • Support business development by delivering financial analyses, accounting expertise, and performance metrics to assist in pricing decisions, pro forma forecasts, and deal assessments during the sales process.
  • Stay updated on contemporary trends and industry best practices in finance and accounting.
  • Comprehend operational processes and their accounting impacts within assigned sites.
  • Operate within defined authority, adhering to company and corporate policies and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is preferred.
  • Experience in supervisory roles is advantageous.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience within the hospitality sector.
  • Effective communication skills capable of clarifying complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Dynamics GP software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills suited for a dynamic work environment.
  • Well-organized with attention to detail and a positive outlook.

Supervisory Duties

  • Ensure clear definition, effectiveness, and communication of tasks, responsibilities, and authority for projects and assignments.
  • Identify management training needs and initiate development programs.
  • Oversee selection, orientation, and training to maintain qualified personnel and effective onboarding processes.
  • Monitor performance of direct reports, providing timely coaching and feedback.
  • Review and approve performance evaluations prepared by direct reports.
  • Foster positive employee relations by consistently applying company management principles, policies, and practices; approve personnel actions initiated by direct reports.
