Role Overview

The Senior Vice President of Operations for KemperClubs is the chief executive responsible for overseeing the entire private club division. This position manages a nationwide portfolio comprising owned, leased, and third-party managed private clubs, focusing on operational integrity, member experience, financial results, leadership development, and long-term asset enhancement. The role involves strategic planning, brand advancement, stakeholder relationship management, and collaboration with corporate leadership to align the private club division with the broader corporate growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and ensure excellence in operational performance, member satisfaction, financial management, client retention, and strategic growth across the private club portfolio.
  • Formulate and implement the long-term vision and strategic direction of KemperClubs consistent with corporate goals.
  • Enhance the KemperClubs brand positioning as a premier private club management platform.
  • Develop scalable operational systems, service standards, and performance benchmarks to guarantee consistency across all clubs.
  • Oversee club operations, financial outcomes, service delivery, and strategic business plans.
  • Conduct financial analyses including budgets, forecasts, labor management, capital expenditures, cash flows, and variance assessments.
  • Hold senior managers accountable for achieving set revenue, profitability, membership, service quality, and operational targets.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop senior leaders, fostering leadership depth and succession plans.
  • Act as the primary liaison for ownership groups, boards, committees, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the division in executive meetings, strategic discussions, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with business development to identify and pursue new opportunities in private club management, leasing, and acquisitions.
  • Coordinate with corporate departments including finance, HR, legal, marketing, food & beverage, agronomy, and business development.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, client contracts, legal requirements, and risk management policies.
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives and projects supporting organizational success.

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15 years of progressive leadership experience in private clubs, hospitality, golf, or multi-unit operations at a senior executive level.
  • Proven track record managing multiple private clubs or hospitality venues with direct financial and operational responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • Strong financial expertise including budgeting, forecasting, capital investment planning, labor management, variance analysis, and operational performance improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of private club operations encompassing membership structures, food and beverage, golf operations, agronomy, hospitality services, and asset management.
  • Ability to think strategically while ensuring disciplined operational execution across diverse locations.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills with owners, boards, committees, executives, and operational leaders.
  • Experience in recruiting, coaching, and developing high-performing leadership teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good business judgment, adaptability, and professional decision-making capabilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities and complex situations in a dynamic environment.
  • Positive, professional, and service-oriented leadership demeanor.
  • Willingness and capacity for frequent travel including nights and weekends.

Additional Requirements

  • Regular travel by car and air is required.
  • Must be able to access various club properties including golf courses and hospitality venues.
  • Proficiency in multiple communication and software platforms.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
