Job Summary
The Recycling Attendant position at the Mission Recycling Depots involves contributing to a team-oriented, safe, and efficient environment focused on excellent customer service. The role requires assisting with recycling operations, maintaining site standards, and engaging customers professionally. The work environment includes exposure to noise and varying weather conditions. Occasionally, shifts may require working at the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Depot.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate safely and effectively in team settings while adhering to all company and safety protocols.
- Evaluate incoming recyclable goods to confirm compliance with facility standards and provide community education on proper recycling methods.
- Offer outstanding customer support to residential and commercial users, managing traffic flow as necessary.
- Engage in training sessions to develop necessary job skills.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe depot area at all times.
- Support supervisory staff to ensure regulatory and company standards are achieved at both Abbotsford and Mission depots.
- Monitor inventory with supervisors to guarantee contractual and regulatory conformity.
- Propose suggestions to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and safety measures.
- Assist in training newly onboarded employees regarding site procedures and safety rules.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Genuine interest in promoting the green economy and community essential services.
- Capability to work predominantly outdoors in varied weather conditions.
- Strong dedication to workplace safety standards.
- Preferably 2 to 3 years experience in roles with customer service exposure.
- Proactive and eager to acquire new knowledge and skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities as well as interpersonal skills.
- Experience using small mobile machinery like forklifts is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Willingness to work day shifts on a schedule of four days on, four days off, including some weekends.
- Positive, hands-on approach with a friendly demeanor; good humor appreciated.
