Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard/Pool Operator) NF-02

Overview

This position involves performing lifeguarding responsibilities along with some limited management duties related to the pool facility. The Recreation Assistant oversees pool operations and supervises assigned lifeguards, ensuring the safety and maintenance of the aquatic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out lifeguard duties to ensure guest safety at the assigned aquatic facility.
• Directing pool operations and managing the workflow of lifeguards under supervision.
• Maintaining safe pool conditions including filtration systems, water chemistry balance, and conducting regular water quality tests.
• Rescuing swimmers in distress and providing first aid as necessary.

Employment Conditions

• Direct deposit and Social Security card are prerequisites for employment.
• Applicants must satisfy qualification, eligibility, and background screening requirements.
• A probationary period up to one year may apply.
• Lifeguards must have good vision, meeting at least 20/40 standard, either corrected or uncorrected.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Mandatory certifications include:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or nationally recognized equivalent (e.g., Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification).
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification or an equivalent nationally recognized certification.
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Oxygen Administration certifications, effective when facilities use AEDs and oxygen equipment.
• Additional background checks may be required for positions involving consistent contact with children.

Education Requirements

• College or university transcripts must be submitted alongside the resume for verification when specific educational qualifications are necessary.
• Foreign education must be evaluated to confirm equivalence to accredited U.S. programs.
• Only degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education qualify.

• The position is open locally within 100 km of Baumholder, Germany, including candidates who qualify under spouse employment, involuntary separation, or family member preference programs.
