Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Promptly respond to urgent care requests, providing immediate support to clients in their homes.
- Rapidly assess client needs to administer suitable care interventions effectively.
- Communicate clearly with care management regarding client status and actions taken.
- Follow care plans and established protocols strictly to avoid confusion during short-notice care delivery.
- Assist clients with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support, ensuring safe transfers and proper use of equipment.
- Administer prescribed medication in line with company policies.
- Offer companionship and emotional backing, promoting social interaction and involvement in activities.
- Help with meal preparation and household tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, family members, branch management, and care coordinators to provide seamless care.
Required Qualifications and Training
- QQI Level 5 Health Care Award or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- Possession of a full, clean driving license and access to a personal vehicle is essential.
- Completion of HSE LAND trainings including Children’s First, Safeguarding, Dementia Awareness, GDPR, Basics of Infection Prevention and Control, Hand Hygiene, and PPE usage in community healthcare.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in basic patient care duties such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and mobility assistance.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, combined with active listening.
- Ability to follow precise instructions and healthcare protocols.
- Empathetic and compassionate approach to emotional support and companionship.
- Competent in time management and prioritization of tasks.
- Teamwork-oriented with adaptability to changing care needs and environments.
- Attention to detail for accurate observation and reporting.
- High levels of reliability, punctuality, professional presentation, and adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Physical capability for demanding healthcare tasks.
Experience Requirement
Prior healthcare experience is crucial for this position.
Working Conditions
- Work schedule comprises either three or four days per week with 12-hour shifts totaling 84 hours per fortnight.
- Availability is required between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM, including every alternate weekend.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary ranging from €33020 to €37128 annually.
- Mileage reimbursement at €0.44 per kilometer or provision of a company vehicle.
