Job description
Role overview
JPMorganChase is hiring an Associate for its Tax Oriented Investments team within Quantitative Trading & Research. The position is aimed at someone who can bring strong quantitative and technical capability to front-office investing work, using machine learning and large language models to improve how deals are sourced, evaluated, executed, and managed.
This role sits at the intersection of quantitative research, AI engineering, and investment execution. You will work closely with investment professionals on large, complex transactions and help modernize deal workflows with automation, analytics, and AI-assisted decision support.
What you will do
- Build a strong understanding of the full deal process, including origination, underwriting, syndication, and asset management.
- Spot workflow inefficiencies and missing data across deal processes, then design ML- and LLM-based solutions that improve speed, precision, and insight.
- Create LLM-enabled tools that streamline review of legal, underwriting, and transaction documents.
- Turn unstructured deal information into structured outputs and usable insights.
- Produce investment summaries, credit memos, and materials for investment committee review.
- Help support scenario analysis and better decision-making through advanced analytics.
- Develop and maintain Python-based tools and data pipelines.
- Contribute to market intelligence and deal sourcing analysis.
- Support reporting for portfolios, pipelines, and performance metrics.
- Work with technology and internal business teams to integrate solutions with origination, risk, P&L, and asset management systems.
- Rapidly prototype, refine, and improve solutions based on business feedback.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
- Proven experience using machine learning and LLMs to solve real business problems.
- Strong Python programming ability.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
- A self-starter mindset with strong independent and critical thinking skills.
- Clear interest in financial markets and applying technical methods to finance-related problems.
Preferred background
- Experience in deal pitching, origination, underwriting, or investment proposal work.
- Exposure to tax credit investing, such as affordable housing or renewable energy, or to related structured finance products.
