Job description

Role overview

As a Quality Improvement Advisor, you’ll act as the main point of contact and coach for hospitals, helping them spot opportunities to strengthen patient care, safety, and outcomes while guiding improvement efforts toward healthcare quality goals.

Location and eligibility

This is a remote role, but candidates must live in Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, or Wyoming to qualify. Internal candidates located in other states may also be considered.

What you will do

  • Work closely with hospitals to identify improvement opportunities and help deliver measurable gains in patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and national organizations to connect providers and patients with initiatives and learning opportunities relevant to their needs.
  • Review quality data at the regional, state, and provider levels, support learning collaboratives, and offer technical guidance as hospitals adopt evidence-based practices.
  • Use your understanding of hospitals and healthcare systems, along with quality improvement expertise and relationship-building strengths, to engage effectively with partners and providers across the care continuum while supporting state and federal quality objectives.

Required qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, public health, or a similar field is required, or equivalent experience may be accepted, such as 10 years of healthcare experience or an associate’s degree plus 5 or more years of experience.
  • Prior experience in healthcare quality improvement is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of quality improvement principles and methods used in hospital environments is required.
  • You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to build productive relationships with C-suite leaders, clinicians, administrators, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Familiarity with hospital-related state and federal rules, including CMS quality measures, value-based payment models, and accreditation requirements, is needed.
  • You must be able to coach providers and partners through improvement work and provide technical support in your area of expertise or in setting-specific topics.
  • An active Enterprise User Administration (EUA) ID is required. As a CMS contractor employee needing regular access to a CMS federally controlled information system, you must create an Identity and Credentialing Tool (ICT) account and obtain an EUA ID. If you do not already have one, you must complete the required training and secure the ID. Failure to do so within the required timeframe may lead to termination of employment.

Preferred experience

  • Background working in a hospital setting.
  • Master’s degree in public health, quality improvement science, health informatics, or a related discipline.
  • Current license or certification such as RN, LPN, MSW, or CPHQ.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and administrators.
  • Proven ability to manage project schedules, meet deadlines, and prepare detailed written reports.
  • Experience turning complex data into practical insights and clear narratives for both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
