Job description
Role overview
As a Quality Improvement Advisor, you will act as the main point of contact and advisor for hospitals. The role centers on spotting opportunities to improve patient care, safety, and outcomes, then helping implement practical quality-improvement actions that support healthcare objectives.
Work location and eligibility
This is a remote position, but you must live in Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, or Wyoming to qualify. Internal candidates based in other states may also be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with hospitals to identify improvement opportunities and help drive measurable gains in patient outcomes.
- Coordinate with local, state, and national groups to connect providers and patients with relevant programs, initiatives, and learning resources.
- Review regional, state, and provider-level quality data, lead learning collaboratives, and offer technical support as hospitals adopt evidence-based practices.
- Use your hospital and healthcare-system knowledge, quality-improvement background, and relationship-building skills to engage partners and providers across the care continuum while supporting alignment with state and federal quality goals.
Required qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, public health, or a related discipline is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (for example, 10 years of healthcare experience, or an associate’s degree plus 5+ years of experience).
You must have prior experience in healthcare quality improvement and a strong understanding of quality-improvement principles and methods used in hospital settings.
The role also calls for excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, including the ability to build effective relationships with C-suite leaders, clinicians, administrators, and other health professionals.
You should be familiar with hospital-related state and federal requirements, including CMS quality measures, value-based payment models, and accreditation standards.
Experience coaching providers and facilitating improvement work, along with delivering technical assistance in subject-matter or setting-specific areas, is also required.
Because this is a CMS contractor role with regular access to a federally controlled system, you must establish an Identity and Credentialing Tool (ICT) account and obtain an active Enterprise User Administration (EUA) ID. If you do not already have an active EUA ID, you must complete the necessary training and secure it within the required timeframe. Failure to do so may lead to termination of employment.
Preferred background
- Experience working in a hospital environment.
- Master’s degree in public health, quality improvement science, health informatics, or a related field.
- Current or previous licensure/certification as an RN, LPN, MSW, or CPHQ.
- Background working with multidisciplinary groups, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and administrators.
- Proven ability to manage project schedules, meet deadlines, and prepare detailed written reports.
- Skill in turning complex data into clear, practical insights and meaningful narratives for both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
