Role overview
This is a permanent Quality Assurance Associate opportunity with a respected employer in Athy, County Kildare. The position sits within the QA team and focuses on overseeing food safety systems across the site, with an initial emphasis on extending quality management processes into additional parts of the operation.
The role supports the wider business by helping maintain regulatory compliance, strengthening documentation controls, and assisting with internal auditing and CAPA activities. Success in this position depends on being comfortable working across multiple functions in a busy production environment.
Key duties
- Track how effectively the food safety management system is working in production areas by carrying out GMP checks, CCP verification activities, and food safety walks.
- Perform routine audits and site inspections to confirm adherence to company procedures, internal standards, and FSSC 22000 requirements.
- Roll out existing quality management systems into newly added areas of the site.
- Partner with different departments to ensure quality processes are joined up across the business.
- Support operations and other teams with practical guidance so quality standards are understood and applied correctly.
- Help develop and deliver food safety training for both new starters and current employees.
- Support internal audits and third-party facility audit preparation and follow-up.
- Administer the document management system and oversee the full set of company-controlled documentation.
- Train colleagues on documentation expectations and related procedures.
- Stay current on documentation-related regulatory requirements and implement changes where needed.
- Work collaboratively across functions to keep projects on schedule and achieve target outcomes.
- Monitor corrective actions and contribute to corrective and preventive action processes.
Skills and experience required
The role calls for a degree, or equivalent qualification, in Quality Assurance or another science-related discipline. Candidates should have practical knowledge of QA systems and GMP, along with at least two years' experience in quality control and quality assurance within the food sector.
Strong attention to detail, a structured and process-led working style, experience preparing procedure documents, and solid Microsoft Office skills, including spreadsheet creation, are also needed.
