Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously monitoring quality assurance and quality control systems in accordance with the Florida Office of Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Program regulations and internal company standards. This role involves managing incident, complaint, deviation, and recall processes, thoroughly investigating any suspected diversion events or reportable incidents during transport, and collaborating with security and patient care leadership to ensure thorough follow-up and procedural improvements.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
- Manage and oversee quality control and assurance activities across production and packaging of medical marijuana products.
- Develop and enforce robust quality assurance standards, offering both technical expertise and ensuring regulatory compliance in all stages of product cultivation and processing.
- Facilitate ongoing quality enhancements by defining specifications, conducting audits, and leading investigations into non-conformances and deviations.
- Review relevant regulatory documentation, including those from the Department of Health Office of Compassionate Use and track new or updated governmental regulations impacting operations.
- Draft, revise, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operations Manuals to ensure best practices are documented and followed.
- Collaborate closely with the Patient Care Director to deliver an integrated and effective quality assurance program.
- Support quality control efforts by conducting rigorous reviews of technical documents, test results, procedures, and equipment functionality.
- Utilize scientific and technical expertise to identify and resolve production and process issues swiftly.
- Investigate and address product non-conformities, manage complaint material reviews, and accurately log investigative findings and corrective measures.

Candidate Eligibility and Requirements
- A minimum of five years' experience as a Quality Assurance Manager in regulated industries, demonstrating expertise in records management, inventory auditing, and implementation of corrective action procedures.
- Strong command of quality assurance frameworks, documentation control, and testing protocols, along with experience managing version-controlled standards and workflows.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to successfully pass an FBI background check.
- Background in chemistry and plant biology is advantageous, as is prior experience within the medical marijuana sector.
