About the Role
This permanent position is based in Auckland, specifically in Waitakere City and North Shore City, New Zealand. As a Psychologist within the Intensive Wraparound Service (IWS) team, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary group to assess and address the core needs of children and young people and their families. Your work will involve providing tailored psychological assessments and interventions that are evidence-based, as well as supporting those around the child to adopt best practices. Key tasks include identifying factors affecting learning, wellbeing, and behaviour, participating in strength-focused team efforts, and monitoring the impact of interventions through data-supported decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Detect underlying patterns or influences impacting a young person's education, behaviour, and wellbeing.
- Contribute positively within a strengths-based collaborative team environment to address the child's fundamental needs.
- Deliver ongoing psychological evaluations and individualised interventions.
- Encourage evidence-informed practices among families, educators, and other caregivers.
- Support data collection and informed decision-making by monitoring implementation effectiveness.
Candidate Requirements
- Current New Zealand registration as a Psychologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act with a valid practicing certificate; psychologist interns are also encouraged to apply.
- Ability to effectively apply specialist skills in multi-agency, trans-disciplinary contexts focused on child and youth wellbeing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven capability to engage constructively with children, young people, families, teachers, and professionals from diverse environments.
- Understanding and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
- Willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About the Team
The Te Kahu Tōī Intensive Wraparound Service provides comprehensive interventions supporting young people with challenging behaviours, socio-emotional difficulties, and complex learning needs. Working closely with families, schools, and communities, the focus is on creating wraparound plans that promote success at home, school, and in the community. The position includes ongoing training and professional development opportunities in wraparound practice, with extensive support and supervision.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this role is NZD 85,416 to NZD 126,000 yearly, in addition to KiwiSaver contributions. The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate’s expertise and experience.
